Yes You Can

Our self concept is based almost entirely on how others see us. We know no other reality... Ironically, the biggest downers of our lives are often the judgements, assessments, opinions, beliefs of others.

I share herein, a few lines that spontaneously poured forth, inspired by this pic I came across in an FB post.

We think we are kittens
We believe so
n live so
Because they told us so.

They tell only that, that they can see.
A mere segment, a fragment, a streak.
In entirety .. can only thee.
Go on, pause, turn your sights within, n see.

Let's see it, believe it, live it.
Feed it, nurture it, hone it
Quietly, unpretentiosly, persistently.
Keep at it relentlessly.
A day will come when we may unleash it.

Einstien's teacher saw a kitten that failed Math.
Yet emerged a world famed scientist, amidst the tiger's wrath.

Let not what they see, be my reality.
Believe.. I am, n will be, everything, that I can see.

Dream Big.
n make your dreams a reality.

Cause happiness is looking beyond the visible,
Happiness is seeing that, that isn't
Happiness is seeing what may be
Happiness is questioning the norm
Happiness is seeking answers,
Happiness is looking within,
Happiness is dreaming
Happiness is believing
Happiness is a looking ahead to
Happiness is being able to see the tiger
Happiness is breathing life into it
Happiness is seeing it come alive.

Happiness' Sensation & Perception

Happiness is within us at all times.. forever. Just that, every now and then, life gets in the way 'n pulls the drapes over.. preventing us from perceiving, that which lies within us.
Pull the drapes.. layer by layer if need be. Shy not from seeking help occasionally.. but rest not till you're back in touch with yourself. Go on, seek the Happiness within.

Am sharing here, a poem I wrote as a 16 year old. Hope the Happiness resonates with you.
#happiness_hamesha Sensation & Perception
          Sensation & Perception

How I live to simply sit around,
'n absorb all nature's beauty abound.

For it you need no stream no green,
All you need is yourself minus your mind's screams.
'n then rest comfortably in the open air
'n you'll see nature's beauty about you everywhere.

The rustling leaves,
The dancing flowers,
The chirping birds..
Are all never far.

They are there all time of day,
It's us who are forever away

But when at all we do return
We also return to nature's beauteous fun.

Mantra for happiness : Take one day at a time...

( learnt it at SJC Kalimpong..A beautiful prayer)

One day at a time sweet Jesus,
that's all I'm asking from you
help me today
Show me the way
Show me the stairway
I have to climb
Lord for my sake
teach me to take
one day at a time

Take on life one day at a time. Make the most of today, of now. Try to live in the present n savour each moment.' cause
aage bhee jaane na tu
peeche bhi jaane na tu
jo bhi hai
bas ek yahi pal hai

Give each moment your best..Self doubt, hiccups, obstacles are all part of the trek towards a desired outcome. They simply add texture and newer dimensions to the otherwise staid and event-less journey called life..an added charm, a hint o spice!

So enjoy it while it's yum, n give up wishing it were smooth n bland... :)

Another 'mantra' for happiness : 'karm karo..phal kee itchaa mat karo'

'Just do your bit,do what you consider right; without any desire for recognition or rewards'

Isn't this the 'nichor' of 3 idiots too? Aamir Khan's character studied ..not for a degree.. not for marks... not for recognition, but simply for knowledge... and he ended up with success in the truest sense... a life of contentment.. of true happiness.

It's only when u can genuinely let go..when your actions cease to be a means to an end..that you'll succeed.....because u gave up hankering for it! Interestingly though..it really wont matter anymore..!!

The science of happiness

While happiness itself is sought for its own sake, every other goal — health, beauty, money, or power — is valued only because we expect that it will make us happy. — Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

What exactly is happiness? Does money make one happy? Power... Pleasure...? And if money isn’t the key to true happiness, what is?

It has been found  that people are the happiest...not when they’re sitting mindlessly in front of the television for hours on end (even if it is a 62" LED)...but when they’re making mental or physical efforts that engage them in a challenging activity that requires skill. An activity that isn’t too easy (which would get boring) or too difficult (which would cause anxiety or frustration). An activity which offers scope for growth and improvement.

According to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi  “Contrary to what we usually believe . . . the best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times — although such experiences can also be enjoyable — the best moments usually occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.”

During activities such as these, you achieve a state  in which your attention is so totally absorbed by what you’re doing there is no room in your consciousness for fear or worry. In fact, you become completely unselfconscious; for once not caring about such trifles as your appearance, what others think of you, possible outcomes (phal ki itchaa)...!!!

So to experience true bliss..be prepared to get completely lost in the moment...(jo bhi hai, bas ek yahi pal hai...)

Pleasure and happiness...

Happiness actually has nothing to do with pleasure. You feel pleasure when you want something and you get it; or when you don't want something and you remove it. Pleasure is always relative.

True happiness on the other hand, exists irrespective of our circumstances. It is unaffected by the ups and downs of life. It is all permeable... It permeates through rejection and recognition alike and is as untouched by desires as it is by fulfillment. It's existence is contingent upon nothing... It exists in a void... is absolute... it is a state of 'happiness hamesha'

Awareness and Acceptance of ourselves, and our life circumstances are the two major landmarks in the journey towards achieving 'happiness hamesha'.
